Texas Rangers lineup for September 26, 2021 against the Baltimore Orioles: starting pitchers are Dane Dunning for the Rangers and John Means for the Orioles.

The Rangers are sitting at 99 losses for the first time since 1985, when they ended the year at 62-99, and a canceled and not rescheduled game was potentially the only thing keeping them from 100 losses. If you’re an optimist, you might note that the 1986 were a very young and very fun team that leaned into its youth movement and ended up being a surprise contender, finishing the year at 87-75 and in second place in the A.L. West.

The 2021 Rangers have to win out to avoid 100 losses, which, while possibly, is extremely unlikely. To win out they would have to win today in Baltimore against John Means, a very good pitcher who is having a very good year. In going up against Means, the Rangers are giving Nick Solak and DJ Peters the day off, and have Andy Ibanez manning first base while Nate Lowe DHs.

The lineup:

Yonny — 2B

IKF — SS

Adolis — RF

Lowe — DH

Ibanez — 1B

Trevino — C

Calhoun — LF

Culberson — 3B

Leody — CF

12:05 p.m. Central start time.
