Down East had a terrific 2021 season, playing in a winner-take-all Game 5 of the Low-A East Championship Series on Sunday, but ended up having to settle for runner-up status after a 9-2 loss to Charleston.
Mason Englert went 4.1 IP, allowing four runs on four hits and two walks, striking out four. Leury Tejada allowed three runs in 0.2 IP. Michael Brewer allowed two runs (one earned) in an inning of work. Conner Sechler threw a scoreless inning.
The Ducks managed just four hits — two by Randy Florentino, and one apiece by Luisangel Acuna and Cristian Inoa.
