Texas Rangers front office member Mike Daly is talking to the San Diego Padres about a front office job, per Jon Heyman on Twitter.
Daly is an Assistant General Manager with the Rangers who, until a recent front office shuffle announced earlier this month, oversaw the Rangers minor league system and player development. That role appears to have been taken over by Ross Fenstermaker, who was moved into an AGM role when that announcement was made. Daly, per the Rangers’ announcement at that time, was being moved into an undefined role, though the expectation seemed to be that Daly would seek other opportunities elsewhere.
Padres general manager A.J. Preller, of course, was with the Rangers until being hired by the Padres in August, 2014, and worked with Daly during his time here. The Padres cut loose their farm director, Sam Geaney, last week, and there have been indications that other moves will be forthcoming this offseason.
