Minor league update for 9/5/21

Down East sent Owen White to the mound on Sunday, and he was dominant. 5 IP, 2 walks, 2 hits, 12 Ks. That’s mighty impressive. Makes you wish he’d taken Crash Davis’s advice about punching with your glove hand, not your pitching hand. Destin Dotson threw two shutout innings, striking out three.

Luisangel Acuna had a single, a double and a stolen base. Aaron Zavala had a walk and a double. Jayce Easley had a pair of hits. Jose Acosta had a pair of hits. Daniel Mateo had a double. Keyber Rodriguez had a hit.

Kevin Gowdy started for Hickory. Gowdy threw four innings, allowing an unearned run on three hits and a walk, striking out three. Derwin Barreto drew two walks. Ezequiel Duran drew two walks and had a hit. David Garcia had a hit.

Frisco had Zak Kent as their starter on Saturday. Kent went five innings, allowing four runs on seven hits, including two homers, and three walks, striking out six. Daniel Robert continued to roll through the Texas League, striking out three in two scoreless innings of work, allowing one hit. Alex Speas gave up four runs in an inning of work.

Josh Smith was 2 for 3 with a HBP and a stolen base. Josh Stowers had a pair of hits.
