Pitcher Spencer Howard has been activated from the COVID 19 injury list, the Texas Rangers announced today. To make room for him on the active roster, the Rangers have placed Nick Snyder on the injured list.
Howard was one of several players who went on the COVID list for the Rangers while the team was in Boston last month. Howard threw two innings for Round Rock in a rehab appearance on September 2, and is starting today against the Diamondbacks in a tandem setup with Jordan Lyles. Brock Holt, Dane Dunning, and Mike Foltynewicz remain on the COVID list.
Snyder last pitched on September 1, and has been put on the injured list with what is described as right shoulder fatigue. Snyder has been used carefully this year, both in the minors and since being called up to the majors in August, and so this could just be a minor precautionary measure, but that’s what we thought about John King when he went on the injured list two months ago and he’s still not back.
